Oahu, Honolulu and Waikiki Beach

Oahu was pretty awesome and exceeded expectations.  The locals on the big island referred to Oahu as the concrete jungle, so we were expecting an inner city sprawl of apartment complexes and sad trees dying in the shadows of towering office buildings.  Instead, I literally sat on the beach under the shade of a hibiscus tree, inhaling the floral scent in the air, admiring the number of palm trees sprouting above the roofline of these "concrete" buildings, while my girls paddled in the water with tropical fish nibbling on their toes.
In the morning of our day at Oahu, the men took a trip to Pearl Harbour and the girls all went on a trip to Diamond Head volcano........and shopping.
Good morning!

Anton trying to eliminate the tourists in his way.

Too much concrete here in the burbs.

NagyMa and the girls.

Mila boarding the trolley

Cruising in the open air trolley.  It was hot, really hot and apparently June is not a fan of the heat, no smiles for the camera.

Diamond Head is a dormant volcano that towers over Honolulu.  The inside is now a public park with it's only entrance point being through a tunnel.
The view from Diamond Head

The tunnel into the centre.

Diamond Head
After the tours we were all tired and hot so it was time for some ice-cream and a refreshing dip in the ocean at Waikiki Beach.

Mila totally at ease in the water

Time for some sandcastles
They loved it so much it makes we wish we lived on the ocean.

The hibiscus tree I sat under for the afternoon.
