Hula Birthday Junebuggie!

We've had a few hectic weeks prior to June's birthday with sickness, too much work and lots of out of town visitors that June's first birthday crept up on us.  Thankfully June has Mila for a sister who rallied and chose the Luau theme and took off from there.  Most of the fun was in the planning with my little party planner in training.
Party planner extraordinaire, gathering the crew for a Tiki hat toss game.
Our outdoor kitchen became a tiki hut/cocktail bar.
It wouldn't be a tiki hut if it wasn't adorned with a Tiki.
Mila in action....somehow the Tiki hat ended up on my head.
Somehow I forgot that the Tiki hat was on my head.
We had Macadamia's, Hawaiian chips, pineapple salsa, mango salsa, coconut cookies, mixed tropical dried fruit to start....
It's not a Luau if you don't have the watermelon bowl fruit salad.
This fabulous cream cheese with herbs from Mila's garden, pineapple, cayenne, celery and pecans. I only made it because it was pretty, turns out it was delicious too.
Happy Birthday Girl
Mila running laps on her Skuut.  She is a speed demon on that thing.
June playing with one of her new toys....cha cha cha!
Hibiscus and coloured tulle ran along the railings of the deck.
Baby Stella stopped by with well wishes....June of course tried to eat her like she does with all babies.
Birthday cake was hibiscus decorated cheesecake. Mila helped make the flowers.
Mila helped blow out the candles.
Time to dig in!

What? I have to share this with everyone?
num num num
Frosting wouldn't melt in her mouth.
Hula, hula, hula.......
I think Daddy and Mila got the genders muddled on the cut-outs.
It's not a Pina Colada if it doesn't have a pineapple straw.
The day wasn't without injury.  Mila's hula skirt got twisted in the chains of her bike and had to get left behind.
